State Representative Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) issued the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed HB 3653, the 764-page anti-law enforcement bill:
“I am disappointed Governor Pritzker is putting the safety of our communities at risk by signing HB 3653 into law. I voted against this bill by choosing to back-the-badge and keep our communities safe. This bill will allow criminals to get out of jail much faster without requiring them to post cash bail and make it more complicated for law enforcement to arrest dangerous criminals. This new law will also result in increased costs to the taxpayers in every community. I will work with my colleagues in the legislature to support legislation that will improve public safety in the State of Illinois.”
