BELLEVLLE — A passenger who allegedly suffered injuries in a crash on Interstate 64 is suing both drivers involved in the collision.
Steve Evancho filed a complaint Feb. 8 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Marinko Novakovich, Rain Dogs Trucking Inc., and Cynthia Meyer, alleging negligence.
According to his complaint, Evancho was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Meyer. Meyer was towing a "camper style trailer" and traveling eastbound on I-64 in Mascoutah Township on Oct. 9, 2020. Evancho alleges that Novakovich, who was driving a commercial motor vehicle, entered Meyer's lane and struck her vehicle. Meyer's vehicle allegedly left the paved roadway, came into the median and crashed. As a ersult, Evancho claims he suffered injuries.
Evancho claims Novakovich "abruptly" changed lanes and "improperly" merged into traffic. He claims Meyer was driving at a speed that was "greater than reasonable and proper" for the current conditions and failed to operate the vehicle and trailer "within a single lane of highway."
Evancho seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Lanny Darr of The Darr Law Offices LTD in Alton.
