Man alleges injuries from slip, fall in Club Fitness bathroom

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing a Club Fitness in Granite City, alleging he slipped on accumulated water on the bathroom/shower area floor and injured his shoulder.

Jeff Miller filed a complaint Jan. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Club Fitness, alleging negligence.

Miller claims in his suit that he was a patron at Club Fitness on Nameoki Road in Granite City on March 23, 2019. He alleges that while in the bathroom/shower area, he fell on water that had accumulated on the ceramic floor. Miller claims water "easily accumulates" on the type of flooring that was in the area and is often transparent and not easily seen.

Miller alleges that as a result of his fall, he suffered injuries to his shoulder that required surgery.

Miller claims Club Fitness was negligent for failing to warn of the presence of water and the slippery area and failing to prevent the water from accumulating on the floor. He claims that soap and detergents used in the shower/bathroom area also "increased the likelihood of slipping."

Miller seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Ronald Roth of The Roth Law Offices LLC in Granite City.
