Michael Murphy and Alec Messina were featured speakers at the January Enforcement Seminar, which was sponsored by the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois and was held virtually. Messina and Murphy discussed the latest developments on environmental justice.
Murphy, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, focuses his practice on environmental law. He is an experienced litigator who defends clients in state-initiated enforcement actions and citizen lawsuits claiming injuries from environmental contamination. Murphy has been named to the lists of Rising Stars by Illinois Super Lawyers and Illinois Emerging Lawyers by Illinois Leading Lawyers.
Messina, also a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group and is also a member of its Environmental Law practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was previously the Illinois Governor’s Policy Adviser on Energy and Environment.
