Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A nursing home patient claims she fell and suffered injuries because the staff failed to answer her calls for assistance.

Brooksie Robertson filed a complaint Jan 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Liberty Village of Maryville, alleging negligence.

According to her compliant, Robertson was admitted to Liberty Village of Maryville on May 6, 2019, and alleges she underwent a new patient assessment that included an assessment of her fall risk. Robertson claims that on or about May 25 or 26, 2019, she asked for assistance to go to the bathroom four times in one hour without receiving any help. She claims she eventually had to get up without assistance. As a result, Robertson alleges she fell and suffered a fractured hip and fingers.

Robertson claims Liberty Village was negligent in failing to answer her requests for assistance and failing to require staff members to answer her call light. She also claims Liberty failed to give staff members "adequate training," failed to do timely patient checks and failed to place her in a bed or chair that did not require assistance.

Robertson seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Ronald Roth of Roth Law Offices in Granite City.
