Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A man claims he suffered injuries after a tow truck driver rear-ended his Hyundai on Route 161.

Demetrick Jefferson filed a complaint Jan. 20 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Randy Emmons and Tactical Towing & Recovery Inc., alleging negligence.

Jefferson alleges in his complaint that he was driving his vehicle on Illinois Route 161 at the intersection of Royal Heights Road on Feb. 20, 2019. Jefferson claims Emmons, who was driving a tow truck for Tactical Towing & Recovery, struck the rear of his vehicle.

Jefferson alleges Emmons failed to yield the right-of-way and was driving at "an excessive speed." He further alleges Emmons was negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout while driving the tow truck and failing to stop, slow down or sound a warning.

Jefferson claims as a result of the collision, he suffered injuries to his head, neck back and leg as well as incurred medical expenses.

Jefferson seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by John Wilbers of The Wilbers Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
