Madison County woman sues over alleged abuse

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE —  A Madison County woman is suing a man she claims committed sexual battery and caused her to suffer from other abuse for the past seven years.

Brittany Quattlander filed a complaint Jan. 26 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Skyler Lucas, alleging violation of the Illinois Gender Violence Act and battery.

Quattlander alleges in her complaint that within the past seven years and specifically on Dec. 22 and Dec. 23, 2020, Lucas "committed harmful or offensive contacts" towards her that included "forcibly engaging in unwanted sexual acts." She claims she did not consent to the sexual acts and "other intentional batteries" allegedly committed by Lucas.

Quattlander claims she suffered physical and emotional injuries, including humiliation and other emotional distress. She also alleges she suffered physical bruising, incurred medical expenses and lost wages.

Quattlander seeks compensation of more than $50,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Peter Maag of The Maag Law Firm LLC in Wood River.
