Madison County Circuit Court is offering the option to appear remotely for traffic court appearances.
The remote appearances are held via Zoom every Monday at 9 a.m. However, there will be no options for virtual court appearances on court holidays.
Those interested in appearing remotely for traffic court must appear via Zoom prior to the scheduled court appearance.
The courthouse currently remains closed for in-person traffic matters, so the remote appearance offers an alternative option to resolve traffic citations.
“When an individual receives a traffic ticket, typically the driver is issued a court appearance date,” the press release states. “This Zoom option will allow drivers to attend remotely before their scheduled court date, avoiding a trip to the courthouse and eliminating any COVID exposure concerns.”
When the courthouse does reopen, anyone who chooses to appear in person rather than remotely on their scheduled court date must wear a mask to enter the building.
