Representative Rodney L. Davis (IL - 13) issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill) announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has awarded Assistance to Firefighters COVID-19 Supplemental (AFG-S) Round 2 grants totaling $30,613.57 to two fire departments in Illinois' 13th Congressional District. The receiving departments and amounts are as follows:
Bunker Hill Fire Protection District: $27,826.67
Village of Taylor Springs Fire Department: $2,786.90
The supplemental funding comes from the CARES Act which Congressman Davis voted for in March of 2020 to provide Coronavirus relief. It authorized FEMA to provide $100 million in supplemental FY 2020 funding for personal protective equipment (PPE) and related supplies to the fire service community to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Round 1 funding announcements were made during the summer of 2020 and Round 2 allocates the remaining $31 million left in the program.
“I’m a proud supporter of these firefighter grants in Congress because they are critical to helping our fire departments protect themselves and the communities they serve. This is particularly true as we combat the Coronavirus pandemic. Taxpayers in these communities pay into the system and it’s important they see the benefits," said Davis.
