EDWARDSVILLE  — A Madison County couple is suing Tiger Plumbing, alleging the defendant's failure to fix a clogged sewer and water line caused the plaintiffs' property to flood.

Nicole Hess and Christopher Hess filed a complaint Jan. 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Tiger Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical Services doing business as Tiger Services, Tiger Plumbing Services LLC, Tiger Heating and Air Conditioning Services Inc., Tiger Electrical Services LLC and Jeff Gamblin, alleging breach of contract and violation of the Consumer Fraud & Deceptive Business Practices Act.

The plaintiffs claim they hired the defendants on July 9, 2020, to fix an issue with a clogged sewage and water drain line running from their basement to the street at their property for a cost of $13,122.20.

The plaintiffs allege Tiger Plumbing failed to fix the clogged drain and failed to replace the entire pipe. They also allege the repairs done were not done in a "professional and workmanlike manner." The plaintiffs allege that due to Tiger Plumbing's poor work, their home flooded, which caused "considerable damage" to the property and its contents.

They also claim the Better Business Bureau has received "a pattern of consumer complaints" regarding Tiger Plumbing and is "advising consumers to use caution" when doing business with the defendants.

The plaintiffs seek compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. They are represented by Brian Wendler and Angie Zinzilieta of Wendler & Zinzilieta PC in Edwardsville.
