Patient claims teeth were damaged during crown procedure at Aspen Dental

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A patient claims a Glen Carbon dentist failed to properly fix her crowns and caused damage to her surrounding teeth.

Marsha Acord filed a complaint Jan. 6 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Apsen Dental Management Inc., Alex Wojtyna, D.D.S., and Andrea Sullivan, D.D.M., alleging negligence.

Acord sought dental treatment at the Aspen Dental in Glen Carbon on various dates in January 2019 through March 2019, according to her complaint. She alleges the defendants failed to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications for two of her teeth and crowns and failed to properly remove and replace the crowns on those teeth. Specifically, Acord alleges the defendants applied too much cement and left "open margins" on her crowns. She also claims they failed to properly perform "crown bite buffing" and caused damage to her adjacent teeth.

Acord claims the defendants' negligent care resulted in her suffering "serious and permanent" injuries along with pain and loss of "large sums of money" from her employment. She also alleges she has incurred medical expenses as a result of her alleged injuries.

Acord seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. She is represented by Ronald Motil and Sara Salger of The Gori Law Firm PC in Edwardsville.
