BELLEVILLE — A homebuyer is suing Century 21 and Keller Williams claiming they sold her a Belleville property that has no access to an outside water line and is "inhabitable."

Lauren Werner filed a complaint Dec. 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Keller Williams, Caleb Davis, Century 21 Real Estate LLC and Rebecca Brown.

According to the complaint, Werner worked with Keller Williams to place an offer on a property on Park Road Street in Belleville that was listed by Century 21. Werner closed on the property on Dec. 27, 2019. She alleges that she was falsely led by the defendants to believe the property "was serviced by the consistent delivery of water services."

Werner claims American Water shut off access to their waterline from the property she purchased and that she has no access to water outside the water line. She further claims the water line issue caused her to "grossly" overpay for the property which is "inhabitable" and which she is not able to sell. She also alleges she is not able to rectify the water access issue on the property "outside of the court of law" and has suffered "economic and non-economic injuries."

Werner seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Charles Baricevic of Chatham and Baricevic in Belleville.
