BELLEVILLE — An East St. Louis casino is accused of negligence by a woman alleging she tripped and fell on an incline in the casino's food court area.

Bobbie Nunley-Strong filed a complaint Dec. 11 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Casino Queen, Inc., alleging negligence.

The plaintiff, a Missouri resident, was a patron at the Casino Queen located on South Front Street in East St. Louis on Sept. 9, 2019, according to her complaint. She alleges that as she was leaving the casino's food court area, she tripped on "an unexpected short carpeted incline," fell to the ground and landed on her "outstretched arms."

The plaintiff claims she suffered "severe and permanent" injuries to her left shoulder, elbow, right foot, knees and left wrist.

Nunley-Strong alleges Casino Queen was negligent in failing to warn about the incline, neglecting to take reasonable care to make sure the walkway was safe and failing to ensure the carpet was in good condition and free of any defects or tripping hazards. She also claims the defendant's walkway area was not "adequately lit."

The plaintiff seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. She is represented by Melissa Donlon of Kuhlman & Lucas LLC in Kansas City, Mo.
