EDWARDSVILLE —  A former Jones Lang Lasalle Americas employee claims he was discriminated against because of his age and then fired in retaliation.

Mark Petkus filed a complaint Dec. 11 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jones Lang Lasalle Americas Inc., and Sean Coser, alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and Intentional Interference of Economic Advantage.

According to the complaint, Petkus claims he was working at a facility in Madison County that was managed by Jones Lang Lasalle when he was 56 years old. He alleges he was treated differently than younger employees and suffered from a hostile work environment and harassment due to his age.

He also alleges he faced retaliation and was fired in violation of federal law because of his age and for reporting the alleged discrimination to his superiors.

Petkus claims he suffered emotional distress, mental anguish, pain, inconvenience and lost wages, future earnings and fringe benefits.

According to his suit, Petkus received a Notice of Right-to-Sue from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Sept. 14.

Petkus seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. He is represented by Michael Brunton and Mary Stewart of The Brunton Law Office PC in Collinsville.
