Motorist alleges semi-truck driver caused collision while changing lanes

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A woman injured in a collision with a semi-truck on Interstate 70 is suing the truck driver and his employer.

Cathleen Heineman filed a complaint Nov. 30 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Megginson Farm Enterprises and Zachary Puckett, alleging negligence.

According to Heineman's complaint, she was driving her 2011 Nissan Juke on east I-70 in St. Clair County on Feb. 4. She alleges that Puckett, who was employed by Megginson Farm Enterprises, was driving a semi-tractor trailer at the same time. He was allegedly attempting to change lanes when he crashed into the passenger side and front of the plaintiff's vehicle.

Heineman claims she suffered injuries to her neck and back and has incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of her injuries. She also claims she has suffered lost wages, endured pain and suffering and "diminution in her quality of life."

Heineman alleges Puckett was negligent for failing to "maintain proper land usage," failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to "exercise reasonable care to avoid a collision."

Heineman seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by The John Lesker Law Firm in Collinsville.
