Truck service company alleges former manager fraudulently purchased, sold tires to fund drug addiction

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County truck service company claims a former manager defrauded the company out of more than half a million dollars to fund his drug addiction.

Jung Truck Service Inc., filed a complaint Oct. 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Timothy Mayer, alleging fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.

According to the complaint, Jung Truck Service is a transportation company based in Mascoutah and supplies warehousing operations, truck brokerage and intermodal drayage services. Mayer began working for Jung on Aug. 15, 2016. In July 2019, Mayer became a part of Jung's management team at its East St Louis facility.

Jung Truck Service alleges Mayer was "a previously trusted employee" who committed a "scheme and artifice to defraud the company" out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The plaintiff claims company records show Mayer purchased "tremendous volumes of tires" from Jung Truck Service suppliers. Mayer then allegedly fraudulently used those supplier accounts to purchase more than half a million dollars worth of tires to sell to third-parties in an effort "to facilitate his drug addiction."

Jung Truck Service claims Mayer defrauded the company in a total amount of $622,880.31.

Jung Truck Service seeks recovery of the $622,880.31, plus interest and all other proper relief. The plaintiff is represented by Matthew Diehr of Husch Blackwell LLP in St. Louis.
