BELLEVILLE — A motorist claims she was injured when a truck driver allegedly caused a collision on Interstate 64 in the East St. Louis Township.

Tarvarshay Graham filed a complaint Oct. 15 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Gasa Leasing Inc., and Kevin Jansen, alleging negligence.

Graham states in her complaint that on Oct. 18, 2018, she was driving her car eastbound on I-64 in East St. Louis Township. She alleges that Gasa Leasing's employee, Jansen, was driving a tractor trailer when he collided with her vehicle.

Graham claims she suffered "permanent injuries and damages both externally and internally." She also claims she suffered "loss of normal life," pain, anguish and has been prevented from "attending to her usual duties and affairs."

Graham alleges Jansen negligently failed to swerve to avoid the collision and operated the tractor trailer at a "speed that was greater than reasonable and proper with regard to the traffic conditions and use of the area."  She also alleges Jansen failed to keep an "adequate lookout ahead" and failed to stop or yield the right of way at the intersection in accordance with the traffic signal.

Graham seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Daniel Finney, III of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
