O'Fallon student allegedly injured by table saw while building school musical stage

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A former O'Fallon student claims he was injured by a table saw while building a stage for the school musical.

Harrison Klohr filed a complaint Sept. 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against O'Fallon Township High School District No. 203, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Harrison was a student at O'Fallon Township High School. He alleges that on Feb. 23, he and other students were building a stage for a high school musical production. Harrison claims that as he was cutting a piece of plywood with the school's table saw, the blade became caught on the wood and "kicked back." Klohr claims the saw tabletop lifted up and injured his thumb.

Harrison alleges the school district negligently failed to maintain and inspect the table saw and failed to stabilize the table saw. He also alleges the school was negligent for failing to warn students of the "unstable nature" of the saw as well as failing to provide supervision.

In addition to pain and suffering, Harrison also claims he has incurred medical expenses.

Harrison seeks monetary compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Keith Short of Keith Short and Associates PC in Alton.
