To the Editor:
I am writing to remind your readers that, in this election, some of the most important races are at the bottom of the ballot—including what I believe to be the most important race in the state— the Illinois State Supreme Court.
For the last sixteen years southern Illinois has been ably represented on the court by Justice Lloyd Karmeier—an honorable and very able jurist. But Justice Karmeier is stepping down this year to begin his well-earned retirement.
Fortunately, we have an outstanding candidate in Justice David Overstreet. Justice Overstreet, like Justice Karmeier before him is a constitutional conservative with years of outstanding experience as a trial court judge and an appellate justice. He will be able to step into the large shoes being left to fill by Justice Lloyd Karmeier.
Justice David Overstreet has earned the recommendations of Illinois Right to Life, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Illinois State Rifle Association. He believes firmly in the rule of law and will represent our Southern Illinois values on the Supreme Court.
When you go to vote make sure you go to the bottom of the ballot—and vote for David Overstreet.
