Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman claims her husband's head and neck injuries from a slip and fall at a Collinsville facility contributed to his death.

's head and neck injuries suffered from a slip and fall at a Collinsville facility contributed to his death.

Lulla Jackson, as administrator of the Estate of John Jackson, filed a complaint  Sept. 25 in the Third Judicial Circuit for Madison County against Gateway Industrial Power Inc., and Gateway Truck and Refrigeration Inc., alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Jackson's husband John passed away on Oct. 18, 2019. Prior to his death, the plaintiff alleges that on May 23, 2019, her husband was exiting the shower at the defendant's facility in Collinsville when he slipped and fell. She claims that as a result of the injuries to his head, back and neck, he suffered "intense" pain, "agony" and later died as result of the injuries.

Jackson also claims her husband had to pay "large sums" for medical aid and treatment prior to his death.

Jackson alleges her husband's injuries and death were the result of the defendants' negligence in failing to have "safety measures" on its premises such as non-slip mats in the shower area. She also alleges the defendants were negligent in failing to warn of the area's danger when wet and should have known to use "reasonable care" and inspect the area to ensure its safety for public use.

Jackson seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Dustin Hudson of Neubauer, Johnston & Hudson PC in Fairview Heights.
