BELLEVILLE — A woman claims she was injured at a Swansea McDonald's restaurant after allegedly slipping and falling.

Kathleen Monte filed a complaint Sept. 11 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Estel Foods Inc., doing business as McDonald's, alleging negligence.

Monte alleges in her complaint that while visiting the McDonald's on North Illinois Street in Swansea on March 19, 2019, she slipped on "liquid" that accumulated on the floor as she was walking into the establishment.

She claims that as a result of her fall, she was "made sore, sick, lame, disordered and disabled" and suffered "extensive" injuries to her head, buttocks, back, neck, soft tissues of the cervical, shoulder, muscles, tendons, nerves and other parts of her body.

Monte alleges McDonald was negligent by "knowingly" allowing the alleged liquid to remain on the floor and failing to clean up or to properly train its employees to deal with the alleged spill. She also claims McDonald's failed to warn customers of the dangerous condition and "used poor judgement" in handling the alleged spill.

Monte seeks monetary relief of more than $65,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney John Hustava in Collinsville.
