Shopper sues over slip, fall at Granite City grocery store

Lawsuits

EDWARDSVILLE — A shopper claims she was injured when she slipped and fell on liquid in the bathroom at the Granite City Schnuck Markets.

Rokeshia Jones filed a complaint Sept. 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Schnuck Markets Inc., alleging negligence.

Jones alleges in her complaint that while at Schnuck Markets in Granite City on Jan. 25, she slipped and fell on "liquid" that was on the floor of the bathroom.

She claims that as a result of her fall, she suffered "severe" injuries along with pain, lost wages and "loss of enjoyment of life."

Jones also claims she has incurred medical expenses and suffered disability due to her alleged fall.

She claims Schnuck failed to use reasonable care in the maintenance and upkeep of the restroom and failed to warn of the hazardous condition. Jones also claims an employee was stationed near the area where the liquid was located and should have been aware of the condition.

Jones seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other proper relief. She is represented by Matthew Young of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
