Every day the reports come in: the incidence of Covid-19 infections and fatalities has been grossly exaggerated. The threat of the virus was never as great as we were led to believe, and the onerous precautionary measures imposed upon us to contain the alleged contagion were never warranted – and can no longer be justified.
There was never any need for a lockdown, for social distancing, or for the wearing of obviously ineffective surgical masks. Small businesses that our neighbors and friends spent decades establishing have been destroyed, lives have been ruined, and children that have been “allowed” to go back to school are now getting sick – not from the virus, which was never a serious threat to them, but from bacterial infections caused by the ridiculous masks they are forced to wear for hours on end.
These reports – that the alarm sounded months ago was a false alarm – should be cause for celebration. They are a clear indication that it’s time to get back to normal: open up our businesses, go back to school, chuck the masks, stop the distancing, and start socializing and renewing relationships again.
These reports would be a cause for celebration, if not for the blue-state tyrants in New York, California, Illinois, and elsewhere who seem incapable of recognizing good news or apologizing for their overreactions. Instead, tin-pot dictators like Govs. Gavin Newsom, Andrew Cuomo, and J.B. Pritzker see the good news as an excuse to double down on their failed policies.
Fewer and fewer Americans are willing to trust the demonstrably bad judgment of these obviously flawed “leaders.” Illinoisans began challenging Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s emergency powers months ago, and the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce sued for declaratory judgment and injunctive relief against Pritzker’s edicts.
Now the presidents of the chambers of commerce in Madison and St. Clair counties are urging Pritzker to reconsider his latest edict, perpetuating the restriction of indoor dining in the Metro East.
It’s over, J.B. We know it’s over, and so do you. It’s time to open up.
