Woman alleges injuries from slip, fall at O'Fallon Wal-Mart

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE — A woman alleges she slipped and fell on water at a Wal-Mart in O'Fallon and suffered injuries.

Valerie Hych filed a complaint Aug. 24 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Inc., doing business as Sam's Club, alleging negligence.

Hych alleges in her complaint that she was shopping at the Wal-Mart store in O'Fallon on July 5. While shopping, she allegedly slipped on water on the store's floor and fell.

Hych claims that as a result of her slip and fall, she suffered pain, lost wages and has incurred medical bills.

She alleges Wal-Mart negligently allowed the water to remain on the floor of the store while having "actual or constructive" knowledge of the water on the floor. She also alleges Walmart failed to warn of the hazard that resulted in her suffering injuries. Hych claims Walmart did not use "reasonable care in the operation of its store."

Hych seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Jerry Costello of Bonifield & Rosenstengel PC in Belleville.
