Woman alleges injuries from slip, fall at East Alton McDonald's

State Court

EDWARDSVILLE - The owner of a McDonald's franchise faces a lawsuit over an alleged slip and fall inside the premises.

Mafalda Lefors claims she injured herself after slipping on a liquid substance inside the restaurant on Niagara Street in East Alton on June 11, 2018.

Lefors filed suit May 8 against franchisee, Mary Mac Inc., in Madison County Circuit Court.

She claims the defendant, through its employee, "negligently and carelessly" failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe manner, failed to warn patrons that liquid had accumulated on the floor, failed to inspect the premises to discover the dangerous condition, allowed the liquid to accumulate and cause an unreasonably dangerous condition to exist, and failed to have an inspection system in place to detect a dangerous condition.

The plaintiff claims she suffered injuries to her head, face, left shoulder, and body, along with having to pay medical bills, according to the suit.

Lefors, who is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, is represented by Michael R. Wolsey of Wood River.
