Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has appointed Monroe County Clerk and Recorder Jonathan McLean to a serve a three-year term on the Illinois Electronic Recording Commission.
The term began Dec. 1 and will end on Dec. 1, 2022.
The Commission is a 17-member board created by Illinois Public Act 095-0472 to adopt standards and procedures to implement the Uniform Real Property Electronic Recording Act. The Commission reviews national and state standards and practices regarding electronic recording of land records, consider the views of interested parties, and devise practices to ensure any electronic recording regulated by the Act is secure. As needed to implement the Act, the Commission shall propose administrative rules and shall submit legislation to the Illinois General Assembly.
The Act requires seven of the commissioners to be county recorders. The other 10 commissioners include: two representing the real estate industry, three from the lending industry, three from the land title profession, one attorney, and the Illinois Secretary of State or the Secretary’s designee.
