Heyl Royster issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
For his accomplishments as a Judge on the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, Reserve Officer and Heyl Royster Shareholder Mike Schag received a rare ninth Meritorious Service Medal. The citation accompanying the award said, “Colonel Schag’s outstanding legal acumen and exceptional judicial temperament significantly contributed to the success of the court and military justice system.” In addition to authoring opinions and sharpening the opinions of other judges during the regular business of the court, Mike spurred systemic improvements by revamping the court’s case review protocol and marshaling changes to remove ambiguities in the Air Force e-Benchbook.
