ILLINOIS ATTORNEY GENERAL: Attorney General Raoul Statement on the Retirement of Senate President John Cullerton

Illinois Attorney General issued the following announcement on Nov. 14.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul issued the following statement on the announced retirement of Illinois Senate President John Cullerton.

“I want to congratulate Pam and John on John’s well-deserved retirement. Together, they have made tremendous sacrifices over the course of decades on behalf of the people of the state of Illinois.

“There has been no harder working member of the General Assembly than John Cullerton. His capacity to work across party and regional lines to gain consensus on challenging issues is unmatched, and his ability to break through tension with humor during difficult negotiations was invaluable in getting things done in Springfield.

“I am personally grateful to John for having confidence in my ability to lead and giving me the responsibility of carrying complex legislation during my tenure in the Legislature. John taught me through example about the importance of bicameral, bipartisan consensus building in order to most effectively work in the public interest.

“John will be sorely missed, and I wish him and the Cullerton family well as they begin this new chapter.”
