The Third Judicial Circuit has announced that free legal services will be available to residents of Bond County at the courthouse in Greenville on upcoming Mondays: Nov. 25, Jan. 13, and Feb. 24.
Assistance with finding forms and research has become available through a grant received from the Illinois Courts. It is being used to designate Madison County law librarian and pro bono coordinator Angela Wille as self-represented litigant coordinator for the Third Judicial Circuit.
Wille will be at the Greenville courthouse to assist patrons who are not represented by an attorney on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“We are pleased this grant has allowed the Third Circuit Pro Bono Committee to continue its efforts in Bond County and look forward to providing these services to residents,” noted Chief Judge William Mudge.
Wille has been trained to assist self-represented litigants in finding state-wide approved court forms and directing these individuals to available court resources and general legal information. The assistance can be provided for general civil cases such as dissolution (divorce), name change, guardianships, small claims or evictions.
These services will be provided in Bond County thanks to the oversight of Circuit Judge Chris Bauer and Associate Judge Ronald Slemer.
The Third Circuit Law Library and Self-Help center located in the Madison County courthouse in Edwardsville provides services in person on days the court is open between 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. or via email and telephone.
Third Judicial Circuit residents may also telephone the Madison County Self-Help Center by contacting 618-296-4472.
