BELLEVILLE – An East St. Louis man is being sued after he allegedly caused an auto accident that resulted in nearly $30,000 in injuries for a woman.

The Law Office of Tommie A. Harsley III filed a complaint Feb. 19 on behalf of plaintiff Alison Owens against Stacy Stevenson in the St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Stevenson rear-ended Owens on Collinsville Road in East St. Louis on March 1, 2017, while her car was stopped. The plaintiff alleges that Stevenson failed to keep an adequate lookout; failed to maintain control of his vehicle; and failed to stop, slow down, swerve, honk his horn or warn the plaintiff of the impending danger in any way.

The suit states Owens’ serious and permanent injuries from the collision include bi-lateral shoulder strain/sprains, a lumbar strain/sprain and a tear in the right knee meniscus. She alleges she has expended $29,918.80 for care and treatment.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from Stevenson, citing extensive medical care, therapy, and further treatment, as well as physical pain and mental anguish.
