EDWARDSVILLE – A Madison County woman is seeking at least $50,000 in damages related to a car collision in a Granite City shopping complex's parking lot.

Theresa Brown filed a complaint Feb. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against John Utz, the driver of a car who struck her vehicle in a retail parking lot at the Lowe's/Walmart shopping complex on July 30, 2018, off Route 3 in Granite City.

According to the complaint, both cars were driving through the parking lot when Utz’s vehicle struck the side of Brown’s because Utz allegedly was speeding and failed to yield or swerve to avoid the collision. Brown also alleged Utz failed to notice the impending collision or give warning.

Brown alleged the crash left her with neck, back and shoulder injuries that required medical attention and cost her time away from work.

Representing Brown in the matter is Eric W. Evans of Evans/Blasi in Granite City.
