CLARK HILL: Clark Hill Attorney Melissa Ventrone to Speak on GDPR at IADC 2019 Midyear Meeting

Clark Hill PLC issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.

Melissa Ventrone, Member in Clark Hill’s Cybersecurity group, will speak at The International Association of Defense Counsel’s (IADC) Midyear Meeting on February 25, 2019. The meeting will offer members thoughtfully curated educational sessions which highlight current topics that are essential to those in the cybersecurity profession. Some topics include pro bono appeals, GDPR and its impact in the EU and in the US, and advice to give clients and law firms in today’s social media climate.

Melissa will co-present on the program, “GDPR: Nine Months Later – The Impact in the EU on Enforcement and Compliance and in the US on Discovery.” The panel will analyze European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements and penalties, compliance initiatives, and the response of insurers to claims relating to alleged GDPR violations, among other topics, such as how companies inside and outside the EU must handle personal data.

IADC’s mission is to enhance the skills, professionalism and camaraderie among members, to benefit their clients as well as the civil justice system, the legal profession and all of society.

Melissa Ventrone focuses her experienced group of first responders, including lawyers and forensic investigators, on around-the-clock management of cybersecurity breaches and minimizes damage by working to limit any public or regulatory fallout. When not managing her clients’ urgent breach concerns, Melissa is a proactive consultant in managing data privacy and security risks. She is also a zealous courtroom advocate in cybersecurity litigation. Melissa is also a Certified Informational Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
