A man who allegedly struck another man at a Collinsville bar seeks to settle the suit for $4,000.

Defendant Brandon Krausz filed a motion to approve the settlement as being in good faith on Nov. 28 through attorney William Berry of William Berry & Associates LLC in Collinsville.

The motion states that Krausz and his insurer, Erie Insurance Company, agreed to pay plaintiff Jordan Varner $4,000 in consideration for a release discharging the defendant from any and all liability arising out of the incident.

Madison County Circuit Judge Dennis Ruth scheduled a hearing for the defendant’s motion for Jan. 4 at 9 a.m. He also set a case management conference for Jan. 30 at 9 a.m.

Varner filed his complaint on Jan. 23, 2017, against Flyin’ Lion LLC, doing business as Hurricane’s Bar & Grill, and Krausz.

According to the complaint, Varner was a patron at Hurricane Bar & Grill in Collinsville on March 13, 2016, when Krausz allegedly became intoxicated and struck multiple patrons with his fists, including the plaintiff. As a result, Varner claims he suffered serious personal injuries.

Varner is represented by Jeremy Sackett of Swanson and Sackett PC in Edwardsville.
