Laborer names ALFA Laval Inc., others in asbestos injury suit

Asbestos 06

BELLEVILLE – A laborer claims his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos during his career.

Gary McVay filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against ALFA Laval Inc., Armstrong International Inc., Armstrong Pumps Inc., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, McVay alleges that during the course of his military service and employment with various companies from 1970 and 2000, he was exposed to and inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products he was working with which were manufactured, sold, distributed and installed by defendants.

As a result, McVay claims he had developed lung cancer and first became aware of disease on Dec. 30, 2016.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide any or adequate warnings to persons working with or around the products of the dangers of inhaling, ingesting or otherwise absorbing the asbestos fibers contained in them.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for compensatory damages of more than $50,000, punitive damages, and for such other and further relief that the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
