Driver, passenger allege intoxicated man caused crash

Car accident 43

BELLEVILLE – A motorist and his passenger allege they were injured in a collision caused by an intoxicated driver in St. Clair County.

Timothy Leadley and Tina Totty filed a complaint on Dec. 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Darrell E. Jones, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 30, 2017, Leadley was driving a motor vehicle with Totty as his passenger. They were stopped at a red light on North Greenmount Road when their vehicle was struck in the rear by the defendant's vehicle.

As a result, the plaintiffs claim they sustained injuries, pain and suffering, lost wages and were forced to incur medical expenses.

The plaintiffs allege Jones operated a vehicle while intoxicated; failed to stop, swerve, or take evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision; and failed to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiffs seek judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any additional relief deemed equitable and just.

They are represented by Shari L. Murphy of The Law Offices of Shari L. Murphy LLC in Wood River.
