BELLEVILLE – A former textile mill worker alleges that asbestos exposure caused him to develop cancer.
Tommy Lesley filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ameron International Corp., Armstrong International Inc., Armstrong Pumps Inc., et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Lesley alleges that between 1955 and 1999, he worked at various textile companies and was exposed to and inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers from certain products manufactured by the defendants.
As a result, the suit states he developed lung cancer and became aware of the disease on Jan. 20.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide any or adequate warnings and instructions concerning the safe methods of working with and around the asbestos products, including specific instructions on how to avoid inhaling, ingesting or otherwise absorbing the asbestos fibers in them.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a sum of more than $50,000 which will fairly and reasonably compensate him for the injuries. He is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
