Long John Silvers patron alleges liquid around soda machine caused fall

Slip02

EDWARDSVILLE – A woman alleges she slipped and fell on a puddle of liquid on the floor at the Wood River Long John Silvers restaurant.

Laura J. St. Peters filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Treasure Isles Inc., doing business as Long John Silvers, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 17, 2015, she was lawfully on the premises owned, operated and controlled by the defendant when she slipped and fell due to an accumulation of liquid on the restaurant floor around the soda machine.

As a result, St. Peters claims she suffered physical injuries, experienced pain and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to warn invitees of the liquid present on the restaurant floor and failed to have an inspection system in effect that would have discovered the unreasonably dangerous condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs, and for all other relief that the court deems just and proper.

She is represented by Michael R. Wesley of Law Office of Michael R. Wesley LLC in Wood River.
