Edwardsville man seeks more than $50,000 for collision caused by allegedly intoxicated driver

Car accident 09

EDWARDSVILLE – An Edwardsville man alleges he was injured in a collision when a legally intoxicated driver crossed the center line and struck his vehicle.

James T. Rains filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Grant T. Bardelmeier alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Rains alleges that on Nov. 7, 2015, he was driving a 2003 Cadillac in the northbound lane or Marine Road when the defendant allegedly drove his Nissan Ultima across the center line, striking his vehicle. As a result, Rains claims he suffered physical injuries, extensive hospitalization and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Bardelmeier responsible because the defendant allegedly drove his vehicle while legally intoxicated, drove his vehicle too fast for condition and failed to yield to the right of way.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for a fair and reasonable sum of more than $50,000 together with costs of suit. He is represented by William L. Berry of William Berry & Associates LLC in Collinsville.
