Driver, passengers sue over rear-end collision

Car accident 37

BELLEVILLE — A driver and several passengers allege they suffered injuries in a rear-end collision.

Lataza Fair, Lashawn Hardy and minors, Marsyian Orange, Marcel Orange and Dajavion Fair filed a complaint on Oct. 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stephen Andrews, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 11, Lataza Fair was driving Westbound on Highway 50 with Lashawn Hardy and her minor children as passengers when their vehicle was struck in the rear by Andrews' vehicle.

As a result, they claim they sustained physical injuries, suffered disabilities and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiffs allege the defendant failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply brakes of his vehicle and operated his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for a fair and just award in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit.

They are represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey, PC in Fairview Heights.
