Passenger sues driver for crashing into tree

Car accident 39

EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger is suing a motorist for allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree.

Alyssa F. Mortland filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Clay A. Bush, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 18, 2015, she was a front seat passenger in a vehicle operated by Bush when the defendant allegedly lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.

As a result, Mortland claims she suffered physical injuries, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Bush failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce speed and disobeyed a lawful traffic control device.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit.

She is represented by Craig J. Jensen of MeyerJensen, PC in Alton.
