Woman alleges injuries from Fosterburg Road crash

Car accident 33

EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger is suing Ameren Illinois and an employee for allegedly causing a collision on Fosterburg Road.

Lisa Scheffel filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ameren Illinois Company and Dennis M. Weaver, alleging the defendants failed to operate a vehicle to avoid causing harm to others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 25, 2015, she was passenger in a vehicle traveling in a southbound direction on Fosterburg Road when the vehicle was struck by Weaver. During the accident, Weaver was in the course of his employment with Ameren.

As a result, Scheffel claims she suffered physical injuries and lost large sums of money for medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Weaver failed to yield to avoid an accident, failed to provide a proper lookout and failed to reduce speed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit.

She is represented by Tess M. Perica and Bob L. Perica of Perica Law Firm, PC in Wood River.
