BELLEVILLE – A widow alleges her husband's death was caused by asbestos exposure.
Claudette Scott, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Louis Scott, deceased, filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against ABB Inc., Aurora Pump Co., CBS Corp., Certain-Teed Corp., et. al alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 1957 and 2016, Louis Scott served in the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer for various companies. She claims that he was exposed to large amounts of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products distributed or installed by the defendants. The suit states Louis Scott learned in August 2016 that he had developed lung cancer and died in October 2016.
The plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed to provide any or adequate warnings to persons working with and around the products of the dangers of inhaling the asbestos fibers contained in them.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory, punitive and exemplary damages in an amount of more than $50,000 to reasonably compensate for the injuries. She is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
