Patient alleges negligent care at Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville

Medical malpractice 05

EDWARDSVILLE – The legal representative of a patient is suing an Edwardsville health care facility for allegedly providing negligent care.

Joyce R. Shaw, as attorney-in-fact for Joyce van Deautekom, filed a complaint on Oct. 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Bravo Care of Edwardsville Inc., doing business as Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville; Bravo Home Services Inc.; and Jennifer Fusaro RN, alleging that the defendants violated the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, van Deautekom has been a resident of Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville since May 2011. The plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 8, van Deautekom suffered a fall that resulted in a subdural hematoma and a cerebral hemorrhage. As result, van Deautekom needed surgery and received a g-tube.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide the necessary services to attain or maintain the highest practicable, physical, mental and psycho-social well-being in accordance with a comprehensive assessment and plan of care for patients.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in a fair and just amount of more than $50,000.

She is represented by Andrew J. Thut and Andrew R. Manno of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
