EDWARDSVILLE – A driver is seeking damages after a collision in Leef Township.
Kena Hankins filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Katherine Spencer alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Hankins alleges that on Feb. 18, 2014, she was driving eastbound on Illinois 140 near its intersection with Illinois 160 in Leef Township when her vehicle was struck by Spencer's vehicle.
As a result, Hankins claims she suffered permanent internal and external injuries, is prevented from attending to her usual duties and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Spencer drove her vehicle without keeping it under sufficient control, failed keep to careful lookout, failed to equip vehicle with adequate brakes and failed to stop or yield the right of way.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
