Woman alleges she was injured in I-55 collision with AS Corp. truck

Semi crash 01

EDWARDSVILLE – The driver of a tractor-trailer and other individuals have been named in a suit by a woman who alleges she was injured in a collision in Hamel Township in Madison County.

Dewana Adamski and Don Adamski Jr. filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the Madison County Circuit Court against AS Corp Inc., Rick Griffith, Edda Schlund and Westfield Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the couple alleges that on Sept. 19, 2015, Dewana Adamski was the passenger of a Nissan Versa being driven by defendant Schlund traveling on Interstate 55 when the vehicle was struck by defendant AS Corp. tractor-trailer operated by Griffith. As a result, plaintiffs reserve the right under their own insurance policies to make an underinsured motorist claim from Westfield Insurance Co. since the defendants may not have sufficient insurance coverage.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because defendants Schlund and Griffith allegedly failed to properly apply the brakes, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to keep their vehicles under safe and proper control.

The plaintiffs seek judgment in such sum of money of more than $50,000 as shall represent fair and just compensation, plus costs, and such other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Mark A. Wells of Law Offices of Mark A. Wells in Springfield.
