Man accuses driver of negligence after collision with Alton union hall

Car accident 29

EDWARDSVILLE – A Cottage Hills man has filed a suit against a driver who struck the Steel Worker's Union Hall building in Alton almost two years ago.

Terry W. Wooden filed a complaint on Sept. 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against William E. Jeremias, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Wooden alleges that on Nov. 19, 2015, while seated within the Steel Worker's Union Hall building in Alton, he suffered injuries when Jeremias collided with the Union Hall building. The plaintiff alleges the impact caused him to fall and collide with the walls and furniture of the building.

The plaintiff alleges Jeremias drove his vehicle with improper lane usage, failed to reduce speed and failed to stop or swerve his vehicle in time to avoid colliding with the building where plaintiff was seated.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount of more than $50,000 and costs as provided for by statute.

He is represented by Jim D. Ryan and John J. Hopkins of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Alton.
