Motorist sues over Roxana collision

Car accident 40

EDWARDSVILLE – A Madison County man alleges injured when a motorist turned in front of him and caused a collision in Roxana.

Thomas Proffer filed a complaint on July 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against William Maher, alleging he failed to operate his vehicle to avoid causing injury to others.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 4, 2016, the plaintiff was driving northbound in the right lane on South Central Avenue in Roxana. He claims Maher attempted to turn right into the Roxana Auto Sales parking lot from the left lane and struck the front and driver's side of the plaintiff's vehicle.

As a result, Proffer claims he suffered physical injuries and medical expenses in the approximate amount of $8,028.50.

The plaintiff alleges Maher failed to keep a careful lookout ahead, failed to yield the right of way and failed to slacken his speed and keep his vehicle under control.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount that is fair and reasonable and in an amount of more than $50,000 for costs incurred and any other relief the court deems appropriate.

He is represented by Thomas G. Kemper of Butler & Kemper in Granite City.
