Man claims driver struck his motorcycle in East St. Louis while pulling out of lot

Car accident 03

BELLEVILLE — A motorcyclist is suing the driver of a car for allegedly pulling out of a parking lot and striking his motorcycle.

Ricky Perry filed a complaint on May 9 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Yolanda Norris, alleging she failed to operate her vehicle in a reasonably safe manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 18, 2016, he was operating his motorcycle westbound on State Street in the 5600 block of East St. Louis when the defendant's vehicle pulled out of a parking lot and struck the motorcycle with great force.

As a result, Perry claims he suffered severe physical injuries, loss of normal life, disfigurement and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Norris failed to reduce speed to avoid collision, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles and failed to maneuver her vehicle so that it did not strike plaintiff's motorcycle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs expended and for such other or further relief as the court considers just and proper.

He is represented by Alan G. Pirtle and Lisa Tsacoumangos of Brown and Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
