EDWARDSVILLE — A driver is suing another motorist, claiming the defendant struck her vehicle and caused injuries after running a stop sign.

Myra L. McKire filed a complaint on May 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Veronica A. Thuis, alleging she failed to operate and maintain her vehicle in a reasonably safe manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 31, 2015, her vehicle was violently struck when the defendant ran a stop sign at the intersection of Madison Avenue and 10th Street.

As a result, McKire claims she suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses and damage to her motor vehicle.

The plaintiff alleges Thuis failed to keep and maintain a constant, careful and vigilant lookout, failed to yield the right of way and failed to stop at a stop sign.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount that exceeds $25,000 for injuries and damages incurred, costs of the proceedings and for such other and further relief as the court deems just and equitable.

She is represented by D. Todd Mathews in O'Fallon.
