EDWARDSVILLE — A Granite City driver is suing another motorist, claiming that he is responsible for a 2015 wreck and injuries.
Christina M. Buckingham filed a complaint on May 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Stephen W. O'Connell, of St. Louis, alleging that the defendant failed in his duty to exercise ordinary care in operating his vehicle so as to not injure plaintiff or damage her vehicle.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Nov. 3, 2015, the defendant was on Stratford Lane in the westbound lane, turning southbound onto Maryville Road, and proceeded forward into the intersection, striking the driver side of Buckingham's vehicle. As a result, Buckingham claims she suffered physical injuries and was required to hire the services of doctors and hospitals.
The plaintiff holds O'Connell responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to use every precaution to avoid a collision.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any further relief the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Keith Short of the Law Office of Keith Short PC in Collinsville.
